We recently had the chance to restore a wooden worktop in Whitfield, Dover, and this one had a bit of a story behind it. A few years back, the client had their kitchen worktop installed and finished by a builder — unfortunately, he didn’t have the right tools or know-how to prepare and treat it properly. The result was a poorly finished surface that never quite lived up to expectations and didn’t do the wood justice.
Fast forward to now, and the client decided it was time to put things right — this time by calling in professionals.
After a thorough inspection and a detailed discussion about their requirements, we agreed on the scope of work and confirmed the suitable products to use. We employed a deeper sanding process, carefully removing years of wear and the uneven marks left behind from the previous attempt.
Once the surface was clean and smooth, we applied three coats of clear Osmo Top Oil, normally using two, which is more than enough for most worktops. However, the client requested an extra layer for added protection and depth of finish, and we were more than happy to accommodate this request.
The result? A beautifully restored wooden worktop that now looks the way it always should have. The client was delighted, and so were we!
