1. Definitions

  • “Company” refers to Floor Sanding Enterprise Ltd.
  • “Client” refers to any individual, company, or organisation engaging Floor Sanding Enterprise for services.
  • “Premises” refers to the location where the services are to be delivered.
  • “Contract” refers to the agreement between the Client and Floor Sanding Enterprise.
  • “Work” refers to the floor sanding, repairs, restoration, installations, or other services agreed upon.

2. The Contract

2.1 These Terms and Conditions apply to all work provided by Floor Sanding Enterprise and are deemed accepted when a booking is confirmed, either in writing or verbally.
2.2 Any variation must be agreed in writing. Verbal amendments are not accepted.
2.3 Floor Sanding Enterprise reserves the right to refuse work deemed unsafe or not feasible.
2.4 All bookings are subject to final on-site assessment. Remote estimates are guides only.

3. Quotations & Pricing

3.1 All quotations are subject to physical site inspection.
3.2 Changes in square meterage (beyond a 5% variance), condition of the floor, or access may affect the final price.
3.3 Minimum project charge is £450 + VAT.
3.4 Additional work requested by the Client will be quoted separately and must be approved in writing before work begins.

4. Payment Terms

4.1 A 20% deposit is required to secure the booking.
4.2 The remaining 80% is due on the day of completion unless otherwise agreed in writing.
4.3 Accepted payment methods: bank transfer (preferred), credit/debit card, and cash (up to £10,000).
4.4 Invoices must be settled within 24 hours of issue unless otherwise agreed.
4.5 Overdue payments are subject to 8% annual interest, calculated daily. Late payments may be referred to a debt collection agency, with applicable fees added.

5. Equipment & Site Conditions

5.1 Floor Sanding Enterprise will provide all necessary tools and materials.
5.2 Client must ensure:
• Access to electricity (minimum one 16A and two 10A sockets).
• Running water.
• Clear access to the fuse box.
• Usable toilet facilities.
5.3 If required, visitor parking permits or congestion charges must be covered by the Client.

6. Work Preparation & Access

6.1 Rooms must be cleared of furniture and personal belongings before our arrival unless otherwise agreed. We can assist with furniture moving if arranged in advance and agreed upon in writing.
6.2 Wardrobes must be emptied and kitchen plinths removed if the floor beneath is to be sanded.
6.3 Any delays caused by third-party trades, utilities, or Client readiness may delay completion.

7. Floor Properties & Work Limitations

7.1 Clients accept responsibility for the condition of their floor, including unforeseen issues such as:
• Loose nails
• Hidden subfloor damage
• Slats coming loose
• Discolouration that cannot be removed through sanding
7.2 Repair of gaps or cracks is quoted separately unless included in the offer.
7.3 Colour/stain results may vary due to the natural characteristics of wood.
7.4 All sample charts are for guidance only. Final colour choices are confirmed via on-site testing.
7.5 The Company does not dispose of rubbish, removed floor coverings, off-cuts, or other waste materials. Waste clearance is the client’s responsibility unless arranged separately.

8. Floor Repairs & Fireplace Re-stitch

8.1 Repair work includes the replacement of broken or damaged boards with reclaimed or new timber as agreed.
8.2 “Fireplace re-stitch” includes the removal of concrete from fireplace hearths, debris clearing, and preparing the space for installation. The cost of the floorboards used will be quoted separately after assessment.

9. Floor Installation

9.1 We install engineered or solid wood flooring over sound subfloors, using either glue-down or floating methods depending on the product and site requirements.
9.2 The Client must ensure subfloors are dry and stable. If additional subfloor work is required, it will be quoted separately.

10. Maintenance & Aftercare

10.1 We offer light maintenance services (available to previous clients only) to extend the life of your floor, involving buffing and resealing.
10.2 This service helps prevent unnecessary full sanding in the future. We recommend maintenance every 2–5 years based on use.
10.3 We do not leave treatment products on site for health and safety reasons.

11. Warranty, Complaints & Limitations

11.1 All work is performed to a high professional standard, but we do not guarantee outcomes where:
• There is excessive pre-existing damage.
• Repairs were performed at the Client request on structurally unsound floors.
• Client or third-party activity interferes with drying.
11.2 We offer a 6-month workmanship guarantee covering faults caused by poor workmanship only. This guarantee does not cover:
• Natural wood movement or seasonal changes
• Damage from misuse, moisture, or cleaning products
• Normal wear and tear or failure to follow aftercare instructions.
11.3 Clients must notify us of any complaints in writing within 7 days of completion.
11.4 We reserve the right to return and address issues before any third-party work or charges are incurred.
11.5 Floor Sanding Enterprise is not liable for damage caused by pets, poor ventilation, or lack of proper maintenance after completion.

12. Cancellation & Postponement

12.1 Private clients may cancel with a full refund of the deposit up to 14 days before the start date.
12.2 Cancellations within 14 days of the start date are subject to forfeiture of the booking deposit.
12.3 If the Client postpones with less than 48 hours’ notice, a £100 charge will apply.

13. Liability & Insurance

13.1 We carry full Public Liability and Employer’s Liability insurance.
13.2 We are not liable for:
• Pre-existing damage
• Dust-related issues
• Accidental scuffs or marks on fixtures, walls or skirting boards
13.3 The Client is responsible for securing valuable and fragile items before the work begins.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by English law. Disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
