Last week, we helped a new homeowner in South East London revive their original pine floorboards. The boards had been sanded and stained in the past, but heavy wear and missing finish left them looking tired and patchy. The client wanted to refresh the space and asked us to restore the floor’s natural character.
We explained that the current look wasn’t the true tone of pine and offered to sand a section and do on-site stain samples, something we always recommend when clients aren’t sure about the finish. Pictures and colour charts can be misleading; every floor takes stain differently, and there’s no substitute for seeing it in person.

After reviewing the options, the client chose Jacobean stain by Loba-Lecol, which brought a rich, warm tone to the boards. Once the decision was made, we carried out our full sanding and buffing process, followed by one coat of stain and three coats of Bona Mega varnish to protect and preserve the new finish.
The result? A stunning transformation with depth, warmth, and durability — and another happy client!
