We’ve just wrapped up a rewarding project here in Maidstone — and this one was a bit of a challenge (the kind we love!). The floor was a classic five-finger mosaic made from original wooden blocks, and although we knew there were a few loose sections, it turned out that nearly half of the floor needed to be lifted, cleaned, and resecured.
Rather than letting that slow us down, it actually made us more excited about bringing this piece of history back to life. We carefully removed all the loose blocks, cleaned both the wood and the subfloor, and then re-glued every piece back where it belonged, with plenty of care and patience to preserve the original pattern.
Once everything was stable again, we carried out our full three-stage sanding process, stopping halfway to fill in all the gaps and imperfections. This helped create a smooth, solid surface, ensuring that no detail was left out.
We finished the job with three coats of Bona Mega clear varnish — a high-performance, water-based product that leaves a natural, low-sheen finish while offering long-lasting protection. The result? A beautifully restored mosaic floor with all its character intact and a fresh new life ahead of it.

If you’ve got a patterned or parquet-style floor that needs some attention, even one in rough shape, I’d love to help you bring it back to its best.
