Floor sanding is the process of removing the top layer of your wooden floor, including old finishes, stains, scratches, and years of wear, to reveal the clean, smooth timber underneath. At Floor Sanding Enterprise, we use a three-stage sanding method with dust-free equipment to gently but thoroughly restore floors of all kinds. Whether it's original pine boards or parquet, sanding helps revive the natural beauty of your floors and prepares them for a fresh protective finish. It's not just cosmetic - it helps your floor last longer and perform better.

It depends on the size and condition of your floors, but most standard jobs are completed within 1 to 3 days.

• Step 1: Repairs & Deep Sanding - We begin with any necessary board replacements or fixes, followed by our three-stage sanding process.
• Step 2: Buffing & Surface Prep - Once the floor is sanded, we do a fine buff with mesh screens to prep the surface.
• Step 3: Finishing - We apply three coats of clear varnish or oil, ensuring both durability and a natural finish. Each coat requires drying time.

It’s possible to sand your floors yourself, but we strongly recommend hiring a professional, and here’s why. DIY sanding often leads to uneven surfaces, deep swirl marks, or even permanent damage, especially on engineered floors where the top layer is thin. Most hire-shop machines aren’t as precise or powerful as professional, dust-free systems, and without proper technique, it’s easy to take off too much wood or leave behind an inconsistent finish. At Floor Sanding Enterprise, we’ve been called in many times to fix DIY attempts, and unfortunately, in some cases, the damage was irreversible, and the floors had to be replaced entirely. If you want a high-quality finish, lasting results, and peace of mind, it’s worth having the job done professionally the first time.

Our process is 99% dust-free. We use industry-leading extraction systems to capture dust as it's created. Clients are often surprised by how little mess we leave behind. We also protect the surrounding areas and clean thoroughly afterwards.

We sand:

• Original pine floorboards
• Engineered and solid hardwood
• Patterned floors like herringbone, chevron, or mosaic

We assess every floor beforehand and advise honestly about what's possible.

Solid wood floors can be sanded multiple times (usually up to 10). Engineered wood depends on the top layer thickness, typically 1 to 2 full sandings. We'll advise based on your specific floor.

Sanding removes all previous finishes and damage, returning the wood to its bare surface. Buffing & recoating lightly abrades the top layer and adds a fresh finish - ideal for light wear and extending floor life. We offer this as a maintenance service to returning clients.

We recommend:

• Removing furniture and carpets
• Clearing staples or tacks
• Ensuring access and power

We handle the rest, including edge protection and post-job clean-up.

Yes. We routinely:

• Replace damaged boards (using reclaimed timber if possible)
• Secure loose boards and joists
• Fill gaps and remove fireplace infills

All repairs are completed before sanding for a seamless result.

We offer:

• Clear water-based varnishes (like Bona Mega)
• Hardwax oils (like Osmo Polyx)
• Colour stains and oils (Loba-Lecol)
